For Houston area companies that have 100 or fewer employees, the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership has been named one of the Best Places to Work according to a contest held by the Houston Business Journal.

For contest purposes, businesses are separated into four categories: 10-100, 101-500, 501 or more employees, and companies not based in Houston but have a significant presence here. Winners in this annual event are selected based on confidential responses to a 37-question survey taken online by employees of each company. According to the HBJ, this year 115 companies were nominated, and 12,591 employees completed the survey.

Bob Mitchell, BAHEP president, was asked, "What is the key to keeping your employees happy?" He responded, "It’s important that each employee feels that he or she is an important member of the team, and each one honestly is. Part of that involves regular staff meetings where they are kept fully informed of what is happening within the organization. People want to feel that they matter and want to be treated with respect. That is a given at BAHEP."
