Comprehensive, High Quality Healthcare...
Right Here in the Bay Area
                Lab Worker

The healthcare industry is a significant portion of the Bay Area Houston economy, and awareness of the resources for patients, along with an available and skilled workforce, are the keys to the growth of this industry.

Our Mission Is

To create an opportunity for collaboration and cooperation among partnership healthcare providers by addressing regional health issues and improving the economic vitality of Bay Area Houston.

Components of our efforts are aimed at increasing awareness of available medical care, industry-specific training and other appropriate activities to help stimulate the sector’s growth along with creating and training the workforce needed in the healthcare industry.

Celebrating Wellness & Technology Festival to be held March 20, 2010

The Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership and its Healthcare Partners Committee recognize the value of healthy living for the community. They also recognize that this region boasts many world-class healthcare providers. In an effort to introduce the services and latest technologies available from these healthcare providers to Bay Area Houston families, BAHEP’s Healthcare Committee is staging a Celebrating Wellness & Technology Festival on Saturday, March 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Landolt Pavilion in Clear Lake Park just off NASA Parkway. The event is free and open to the public. Radio Disney, laser tag, music and local entertainment will delight the entire family.

Opportunities are still available for sponsorships and exhibitors. Check out all of the details by clicking on the following link! Celebrating Wellness & Technology Festival information

Making the Case for Success

It's clear to see why companies are rushing to stake their claim when you look at the strengths of this area.

  • The 55-plus population in the region is rapidly growing; currently, it accounts for 18 percent of the population and is projected to increase to 21 percent by 2011.
  • Location, location, location. The Bay Area Houston region is halfway between the Texas Medical Center and the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston. We are fortunate to have many major highways running through our region.
  • A highly-skilled workforce is in place – 33 percent of the area's workforce has a college degree ranging from a bachelor's to a doctoral.
  • A medical service area population already exists.
  • The quality medical clusters in this region exude synergy!
  • Affordable land is available for new development.
  • The area is known for a relaxed, superior quality of life.

Two noticeable trends fuel the need and growth for a strong medical community. First, the U.S. Census population projections indicate that the bubble of baby-boomers will continue to grow in Bay Area Houston, especially as retirees from the East and West Coast of the United States begin to see the value of their retirement dollars going much further in Bay Area Houston.

Secondly, a noticeable trend in the rising income levels suggests that as retirees migrate to the area, so, too, will their incomes. By 2020, the median household income levels are projected to be more than 36 percent higher than the state’s projected median household income.
