Quality of Life

A keystone of every great community is its quality of life, which, in turn, attracts regional economic development. Bay Area Houston’s regional assets and cost of living have made it one of the top destinations in the country for businesses, for families, and for tourists. The region boasts outstanding neighborhoods, a low crime rate, low unemployment rate, above average income levels, cultural events as well as recreational facilities in boating and water sports, golf and tennis, and the full range of amateur sports facilities. In addition, Bay Area Houston is only a few minutes from Galveston’s beaches and Houston’s professional sports arenas and cultural treasures. Bay Area Houston is proud of its distinctive sense of place, its historical heritage, and wonderful lifestyle.

Education

You cannot have a strong community without a vibrant educational component that focuses on developing a relevant workforce for the future.

Members of Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership include five independent school districts and 10 institutions of higher education that support the educational and workforce needs of the region:

Attractions, Recreation, Culture

Bay Area Houston offers a little something for everyone. Often called the "Boating Capital of Texas,” the shoreline of Clear Lake itself has the greatest concentration of recreational boats in Texas and ranks third nationwide. However, there is much more to explore in this very unique area of Texas. The Bay Area Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau offers up-to-date information on the region’s many events and cultural interests as does the official visitors’ site for Houston.

Additional information on the communities of Bay Area Houston can be found on American FactFinder, a service of the U.S. Department of Commerce, United States’ Census Bureau.
