Message from the President

When it comes to economic development, one thing is certain. We are all in this together. It takes more than an individual or a single organization to build a community and make sure that all of the necessary ingredients are in place to make it prosper.

Fortunately, Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership has many partners throughout industry, government and academia that collaborate with us to bring new companies and jobs to the region as well as assisting those companies already here to expand. We partner with our 13 member cities, Harris and Galveston counties, the Port of Houston Authority, and the Houston Airport System. BAHEP’s Membership Directory can be found under About Us / Membership, and I encourage you to browse through it.

Our members are very active within the organization, serving on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee as well as on BAHEP’s committees. The committees support not only BAHEP’s initiatives individually but also work together to promote economic development throughout the region. To learn more about the fundamental role that the committees play within BAHEP, please visit About Us / Committees & Initiatives.

BAHEP’s partnerships also include the Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program or SATOP, the Bay Area Houston Advanced Technology Consortium or BayTech, NASA Johnson Space Center, the Bay Area Houston Transportation Partnership or BayTran, and regional Chambers of Commerce. Each of these provides a valuable service to BAHEP and the community. Of course, NASA JSC’s work affects us worldwide and out-of-this-world, too. Learn more under About Us / Partners.

Bay Area Houston’s business environment is arguably the best in the nation. The growth of our industry clusters of aerospace; medical, life sciences, and healthcare; specialty chemical; energy; and maritime has helped to place Houston at the top of the list of states for the best place to do business. The Business Assistance section of this website offers many resources for starting a business, business retention, expansion and recruitment, site selection support, and more.

We have tried to make our website as comprehensive as possible without making it incomprehensible! However, if you should have questions that aren’t answered here, please contact us. The BAHEP staff will be more than happy to assist you in any way possible.

Best regards,
