Knowing about an area’s labor force is a vital part of any company’s plans for starting, expanding, or retaining their business. This data is often dynamic, with changes occurring regularly. Further, no two queries are alike, given the specifics of workforce attributes mapped to employer needs.
The East Harris County Manufacturing Association has put together a one-stop
site for those interested in a career in the petrochemical industry. Users can identify career interests, plot a career path, find educational resources, and match to jobs that are in demand.
Additionally, the State of Texas, through the Texas Workforce Commission, maintains an up-dated, easy-to-use, customizable system to provide important workforce data. The system is called the Standardized Occupational Components for Research and Analysis of Trends in Employment System (SOCRATES).
SOCRATES enables complimentary data searches in the following domains: County Profiles, Occupational Profiles, Employer Profiles, Wages and Wage Projections, Shift-Share Analysis, and Regional Occupational Evaluation.
The Texas Workforce Commission also hosts a helpful service called the "Labor Market and Career Information” or LMCI. The LMCI’s mission is to "improve the way Texans make career and educational decisions by providing useful and reliable information about careers, educational training options and jobs.”
